Established by the 2017 Class of Leadership Butler County

The 2017 Leadership Butler County class, in conjunction with the Butler Chamber of Commerce, the Butler YMCA, United Way of Butler County, Slippery Rock University, Butler County Community College and NexTier Bank, developed a new Butler County Youth Leadership Program (BCYLP). The mission is to provide exposure to issues, resources and opportunities for service in the Butler County area, as well as educate participants on the concept of “community leadership” and skills required of an effective community leader. It also ensures that graduates become enlightened and contributing members of the community. The program is similar to Leadership Butler County, but is offered to high school juniors from each of the School Districts in Butler County. The students will submit applications through their school administrator to be considered for the program. The program selects two or three students from each of the school districts each spring for the class beginning the fall semester of their junior year. The class will consist of two sessions held each semester during regular school hours. There is no cost to the school district; the program is funded through a generous grant from NexTier Bank, a donation from United Way of Butler County and through fundraising by the 2017 Leadership class.
