If this were a football game and we were ending the first quarter, any spectator would have to admit that our team is not only in the lead, but impossible to beat. The number of events, seminars, mixers, committee meetings, affiliate activities, general information and member information is exhausting. Ours is not a static organization. Our 17th Annual Expo at the Clearview Mall was once again a sell out, with a full compliment of businesses and the number of attendees clearly indicates that our economy is on the upswing.

The Officers and Board (Varsity) of our Chamber have never been shy when it comes to new and innovative programs and events, and our Leadership Butler County Class continues with an impressive array of activities. The Leadership Class of 2017, in partnership with Slippery Rock University and Butler County Community College is continuing to make a legacy impact on our community with the second session of the Butler County Youth Leadership Program for high school juniors. Our first and second string is very strong, but we also have a great number of interested players “on the bench” and in the “training camp”. It is through the diligence and involvement of an extremely active Board of Directors, an interested and informed membership, and a positive reputation and position in the community that we consistently have new involved professionals. I continue to be grateful for the interest and involvement exhibited by our “Past Presidents Advisory Council”, proof of how strong our organization remains. Add to these past leaders the Butler County Young Professionals and we have established a competent, well-informed and interested group of team players.

March will provide our membership with opportunities to network at the first of now five “Meet-N-Move” luncheon with the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber, sponsored and hosted by Concordia Lutheran Ministries along with Consolidated Communications. Members will be encouraged to learn at our newly designed selection of Sandler Training options, geared towards half day expanded sessions. Our new location, the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Butler Centre City provides a convenient location and top-notch amenities. Workshops focus on Sales, Leadership & Management and Customer Service. If it is in the best interest of Butler County, then it is in the best interest of our Chamber Team to lead these efforts. You will soon be receiving (along with over 6,000 area businesses) your 2019 edition of our Membership Directory, designed and coordinated by the Butler Eagle. Please read this publication and use it as your main directory for “business to business” services and referrals.

April is the time to recognize and award your employees at our Employee Appreciation Luncheon, sponsored once again by The Atrium, Butler Eagle and Medure’s Catering, along with the presentation of the Butler County Employee of the Year sponsored by Butler Health System and Moses Jewelers. We once again will partner with the PA CareerLink for a Jobs & Career Fair. May brings us another Meet-N-Move luncheon with the Ellwood City Area, Lawrence County and Beaver County Chambers of Commerce sponsored by WesBanco and ARMSTRONG. Gateway Engineering, XTO Energy, Pennsylvania American Water Company, Community Development Corporation of Butler County, Butler County Manufacturers Consortium and the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau are sponsoring our annual “State of the Commonwealth” legislative breakfast in May at the Butler Country Club. Each month provides a wide variety of events and opportunities to take advantage of your investment in our Chamber. I trust that all of you have received our brochure of events and activities for 2019 and that you noticed the large amount of company logos. Sponsorship indicates pride, interest and most importantly “confidence” in the Butler County Chamber of Commerce. I commend you on making our Chamber the strongest, most active, most highly respected, and most “evolutionary” business organization in the area.

The next three quarters of this 2019 game promise to be full of activity, innovation, education, networking, camaraderie and most importantly, fun and satisfaction with belonging to the best Chamber of Commerce in Western Pennsylvania.
