From bobcats to champagne flutes, Kenmac Rental & Sales has been a Butler County go-to rental stop for more than six decades. The company’s history paired with community contributions earned it the 2018 Community Champion Award from the Butler County Chamber of Commerce. “I’m truly honored. But I feel like I’m only a spokesperson for this award,” said Brian McCafferty, owner of Kenmac Rental & Sales. “The business is here because of my father, who started it, and great employees who have been here a long, long time.”

One of the first rental shops in the tri-state area, Kenmac Rentals & Sales was opened in 1958 by original “Ken Mac,” patriarch Ken McCafferty. The shop has been on Main Street for about five decades.

The oldest of the three sons, Brian McCafferty has spent time pretty much his entire life at the shop. He recalls running around the shop as an elementary-aged boy. Counting part-time involvement, Brian McCafferty has been at the business about 42 years. He took ownership when his father was looking to retire 27 years ago. “My wife, Ruth, was born and raised in the area and we wanted to stay here,” Brian McCafferty said.
