Butler County Family YMCA chosen as Community Champion

In 2003, the Butler County Chamber began recognizing local organizations that impact the community through a cooperative project or initiative, with the presentation of the Community Champion Award. This year’s Community Champion Award luncheon is sponsored by NexTier Bank, C. W. Howard Insurance Agency, Kenmac Rental & Sales, Butler County Tourism and Convention Bureau and designed by Minuteman Press.

Lighting, flowers and signage earned the Butler Shade Tree Commission the first inaugural award. Slippery Rock Area Development Association followed the next year, and the Butler AM Rotary Club received honors for the handicapped playground at Alameda Park followed by the Parking Authority of Butler. Butler Downtown was recognized followed by the Historic Pullman Park Commission. In 2009 we rewarded the Community Health Clinic of Butler County and then the Historic Strand Theater Committee and the Butler-Freeport Trail. The Little Theatre Group received the award in 2012 followed in 2013 by the Butler Area Public Library and the Harmony Business Association, in 2015 the Butler Symphony Association received the honor and 2016 the Maridon Museum. The Historical Society of Butler County received last year’s award.
