Dr. Nicholas C. Neupauer, President of Butler County Community College, has been selected to receive the 2010 Arthur V. Ciervo Award from CUPRAP, the Association of Communicators in Education. He will receive the award at the annual conference in Hershey, PA, from March 10-12, 2010. The award is based on his expertise as an educator in the field of public relations and communications and his commitment to higher education.
Dr. Neupauer has been at BC3 since 1999 serving first as Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences, next as Vice President of Academic Affairs, and the eighth President since 2007. Dr. Neupauer holds degrees from Penn State, Clarion and West Virginia Universities and is a first generation college graduate. Prior to coming to BC3, he taught at Marist College in New York, and he continues to teach public relations at BC3.
Improving communications with internal and external audiences and the media has been his priority since he took over as President of BC3. He is the College’s key spokesperson, speaks monthly on a local radio show, has his own web page and blog, and uses social media to talk to students. In addition, Dr. Neupauer provides leadership on numerous boards in the community, including the Butler Chamber of Commerce, the Community Development Corporation, Rotary International, and The Western Pennsylvania Community College Consortium. The Arthur V. Ciervo Award is presented to a public relations professional, president, higher education advocate, public official, or outstanding faculty or staff member who exemplifies CUPRAP’s fundamental purposes of supporting and advancing the understanding of higher education. Congratulations Dr. Neupauer!
